摘要: Background Although LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) is generally accepted to be a major risk factor for progression of atherosclerosis, the traditional measurement LDL-C includes IDL. Little known about relationship between IDL and atherosclerosis. Therefore, we investigated association plasma lipoprotein subclasses with preintrusive carotid artery atherosclerosis in Monitored Atherosclerosis Regression Study (MARS). Methods Results MARS was randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled serial arterial imaging trial conducted subjects 37 67 years old angiographically defined coronary disease. Analytical ultracentrifugation used determine subclasses, including (Sf 0 12), 12 20), VLDL 20 400), HDL (F1.20 9) 188 subjects.
