摘要: Abstract. In this study we investigate the variability in near-bottom turbidity in Alfacs Bay (in northwestern Mediterranean Sea). The bay is characterized by a micro-tidal environment and seiching activity that may lead to flow velocities of more than 50 cm s −1 . A set of current meters optical sensors were mounted near sea bottom to acquire synchronous hydrodynamic information from water column. time-series observations showed an evident relation between seiche activity sediment resuspension events. of turbidity peaks are consistent with node–antinode location the fundamental first resonance periods bay. implementation a coupled wave–current numerical model shows strong spatial of the potential locations. Strong wind events also a mechanism responsible for fine within bay. This is confirmed suspended concentration maps derived from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. We suggest that sequence resuspension events plays important role concentration, meaning occurrence increase the suspended subsequent events likely affect ecological status sedimentary process over long-term period.
