Calixarene-Core Multifunctional Initiators for the Ruthenium-Mediated Living Radical Polymerization of Methacrylates1

摘要: Tetra-, hexa-, and octafunctional initiators constructed with calix[n]arene cores (n = 4, 6, 8) dichloroacetate units led to living radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) give star polymers four, six, eight arm chains controlled lengths, respectively, when coupled RuCl2(PPh3)3 Al(OiPr)3 in toluene at 80 °C. The produced had molecular weights narrow weight distributions (Mw/Mn 1.1−1.2). Hydrolysis the ester linkage between core gave linear whose number-average are almost 1/4, 1/6, 1/8 those for tetra-, octaarmed polymers, consistent numbers expected from initiator functionality.
