摘要: High-throughput biology is data intensive, and stem cell research no exception to this trend. Funders often require scientists share the generated by high-throughput methods, because sharing speeds scientific discovery increases benefit of public investments in science. When human are involved, benefits must be balanced against risks inappropriately disclosing sensitive, personal information. Historically, anonymized protect interests people whose were shared. However, recent development computational methods for re-identifying from anonymous empirical demonstrations re-identification have led many commentators question whether anonymization still provides adequate protection included shared databases. Because disclosure concerns, repositories control who can access sensitive what approved users do with those data. Stem researchers create such develop governance mechanisms that prevent harm individuals they share.
