摘要: The interaction of a stratified flow with an isolated topographic feature can introduce numerous disturbances into the flow, including turbulent wakes, internal waves, and eddies. Measurements made near “bump” east Race Rocks, Vancouver Island, reveal wide range phenomena associated variable speeds directions introduced by local tides. Upstream downstream flows were observed placing two acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCPs) on one flank bump. Simultaneous shipboard ADCP surveys corroborated some more striking features. Froude number conditions varied from subcritical to supercritical as tidal velocities 0.2 1.5 m s 1 . During strong ebb, when moored ADCPs located lee side, persistent full-water-depth wave was detected in ADCP. However, placement moorings would suggest that, time it appears beams, has been swept or separated Raw beam enhanced turbulence during various phases tide. Many three-dimensional characteristics are good agreement laboratory studies, characteristics, such shear bottom boundary layer, not.
