摘要: Global biodiversity is declining rapidly while the human population grows exponentially. This creates pressure for agricultural industries to improve productivity, but also demonstrate that on-farm management actions are minimising impacts on biodiversity. However, costs and logistical considerations of traditional assessment methods beyond scope many landholders. Our goal was evaluate potential acoustic monitoring in systems. We assessed a range species-specific more general indices using five key criteria (i.e. relevance industry, diagnostic capability, spatio-temporal scale, feasibility, utility as surrogate) determine whether they were suitable assessing outcomes individual farmers. Based these criteria, or guild-specific bioindicators processed automatic recognisers appropriate when assess industry- farm-specific If there no need establish link between practices biodiversity, then logistically feasible use may accurately reflect overall recommend birds bats systems because relatively easy monitor, exhibit peaks activity around dusk dawn, not necessarily water dependent. believe has deliver consistent, repeatable results at low cost compared monitoring, which will allow farmers easily track their sustainability performance. becomes even critical we consider increasing role regions have sustaining world’s
