摘要: Coherent motion detection is greatly enhanced by the synchronous presentation of a static surround (Linares, Motoyoshi, & Nishida, 2012). To further understand this contextual enhancement, here we measured sensitivity to discriminate strength for several pedestal strengths with and without surround. We found that improved discrimination low medium strengths, but did not improve or even impaired high strengths. used discriminability estimate perceptual response function assuming additive noise increased gain, rather than gain. Given eye body movements continuously introduce transients in retinal image, it possible gain occurs natural vision.
