摘要: Aim The aim of this study was to test some the classical rules island biogeography for carabid beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) in 15 forest patches during 1995‐99. Location studied are located on Bereg Plain. Plain is at foot Carpathians, partly Hungary and Ukraine. Even recent times, area covered by continuous woodland deciduous trees, species closed canopy hills mountains were able disperse from Carpathians these lowland forests. But now, because agricultural activities management, fragmented into patches. Methods species‐area number species‐distance mainland relationships, influence other factors like shape, isolation, altitude above see level, studied. We have used three categories analyses: (i) total species; (ii) (ForHim species); (iii) widely distributed generalist (WidGe species). Results There positive, but statistically insignificant correlations between distance species, also WidGe species. correlation negative ForHim it not significant. significant both size patches, while there positive patch decreased significantly increase increased isolation. Shape their sea level had no richness, richness. proved that each higher many small than one large same area. Main conclusions Our results suggest historical reasons a vital present patterns. Moreover, biogeographical studies we must distinguish which recognize habitat as or those can survive neighbouring habitats well. An ignorance two may disguise basic biogeographic rules.
