摘要: Patients admitted to the authors' institution with tibial osteomyelitis between 1978 and 1998 were reviewed. The purpose of this study was determine incidence, etiology, treatment, outcome in chronic pediatric osteomyelitis. authors describe their treatment children resistant previous therapeutic modalities. Thirty patients identified a mean age 8.5 years at diagnosis. Mean admission 9.6 years, indicating more than 1-year duration disease. Follow-up averaged 2.3 years. underwent 97 procedures, averaging 3.2 procedures per patient. Hospital stay ranged from 2 weeks 18 months, an average 4.7 months. Seventy-seven percent culture-positive, 78% positive cultures Staphylococcus aureus as causative pathogen.
