摘要: Objective A morphometric study was performed to examine the effects of prenatal glucocorticoids, which were administered 48 hours before birth, on muscularization small pulmonary arterioles ( Study Design DH created in 23 fetal sheep at 65 days gestation. TO 16 24 fetuses between 110 and 140 gestation; 9 exposed prenatally betamethasone (0.5 mg/kg body weight) delivery. Six sham-operated animals served as controls. Sections paraffin that embedded lung tissues stained with Elastin-Van Gieson, percentage medial wall thickness (MWT) determined. Results The MWT lambs (29.6% ± 1.9%) increased compared sham (18.1% 1.3%) not different from DH/TO (30.3% 1.7%). In + glucocorticoid lambs, (24.6% 1.2%) significantly lower than group but higher group. Conclusion who underwent prolonged therapy for severe DH, treatment decreased hypertrophy by approximately 19%. We speculate such structural changes may have contributed improve gas exchange observed this model.
