Coupled physical and chemical evolution of volatiles in the protoplanetary disk: a tale of three elements

摘要: Volatiles contained within comets have been subjected to a range of physical and chemical properties the protoplanetary disk out which solar system formed. Here we focus on three elements — O, N, S that occur in molecular forms widely varying volatility. These play distinct roles disk, ranging from fundamentally determining opacity oxidation state (water), being passive tracer O chemistry (hydrogen sulfide) amount unprocessed cloud material incorporated grains (ammonia). The interactions among various species are complex, reflecting numerous processes only some well enough understood model detail with confidence.
