摘要: Drawing on historical sources and interviews, this paper discusses several key forces that have shaped the development of snow crab (Chionoecetes opilio) fishery in Newfoundland. Once commonly discarded as a pest, has emerged economic foundation many rural coastal communities since cod moratorium early 1990s. While brought unprecedented prosperity to some commercial fishers, it also been prone significant price fluctuations benefits accruing from not widely shared. Accordingly, marked by frequent often bitter conflicts between different fishing fleet sectors processing companies, plant workers. These tensions reflect fundamentally visions how sustain into future which priorities should decide who most resource. S’appuyant sur des historiques et entrevues, ce document traite de plusieurs cles qui ont faconne l’elaboration la peche crabes neiges Terre-Neuve.
