摘要: This study examines cross-sectional age differences, longitudinal changes, and secular changes in obligatory, committed, discretionary activities, using activity questionnaire completed by men women participants the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging between 1958 1992. (1) Time spent, on obligatory activities passive leisure is greatest, committed active least, for older adults. (2) patterns usually mirror ones. There are pronounced exceptions whose paid work time has been increasing housework decreasing, while show reverse. (3) Over recent decades, shifted opposite ways women. Men decreased increased housework, repairs yardwork, shopping, child-care, housework. In sum, structure persisted midst new social opportunities; gender roles have proven more malleable than roles.
