摘要: Overweight and obesity are major causes of morbidity mortality in the United States, accounting for an estimated 400,000 deaths annually.1–3 Beginning 1998 with publication National Institute Health (NIH)/ Heart, Lung, Blood (NHLBI) Clinical Guidelines on Identification, Evaluation, Treatment Obesity Adults, several professional organizations have recommended practices to improve recognition treatment obesity, prompted part because a perception that overweight were not receiving adequate clinical attention.4–6 For example, 1 study found was reported as either problem or diagnosis only 8.6% 55,000 physician visits 1995 1996, despite markedly higher prevalence estimates.7 The extent which NIH guidelines been integrated into current practice is unknown. Our goal assess this postguideline environment (1) how frequently Internal Medicine residents identify manage patients who obese, (2) patient characteristics associated identification management obesity.
