摘要: IN JUNE of 1956, while engaged in a study the fungi Society Islands, writer found an unusual basidiomycete wooded area near his residence Punaauia District Tahiti. The fungus appeared as thin, gray, waxy-pruinose growth on bark dead limb mango tree. A microscopic examination revealed basidia with four long, stout sterigmata typical genus Ceratobasidium. Furthermore, basidiospores, like those latter genus, were germinating by repetition. On other hand, new differs markedly from all known species Ceratobasidium having gloeoeystidia and incompletely septate basidia. If basidium is viewed apically after septa have appeared, cruciform arrangement septa, so characteristic tremellaceous basidium, may be observed, appears to 4-celled (fig. 8). But when laterally are incomplete below. -Occasionally septum seems extend way through or nearly so, but change focus always shows it interrupted some 5, 6). usually begin appear just before start developing 2). They persist during spore formation 10, 13, 14) frequently not detected at this time 11, 12, 15, 16), probable that majority they disintegrate discharge. It hereby described species, generic name proposed for it. believed occupy position primitiveness Ceratobasidiaceae, indicating phylogenetic connetcion family Tremellaceae.
