摘要: The purpose of the present study is to assess importance pirenzepine, a selective M1 antimuscarinic drug, as hypotonic agent for diagnostic double-contrast studies upper gastrointestinal tract and barium enema large bowel. Pirenzepine scopolamine methylbromide (SMB) (Buscopan) were compared in single blind randomized trial. One hundred-thirty consecutive patients enrolled study. Seventy them underwent stomach duodenum sixty Visceral distension painting stomach, duodenal bulb bowel global quality images blindly evaluated by 4 independent observers means numerical score (1 4). Quantitative analysis was done measuring maximum diameter transverse colon before after drug administration. No differences found performance between two drugs (2.8 +/- 0.8 vs 2.9 0.7, p = NS) (3.0 0.6 3.1 0.6, NS). Under SMB, slightly but significantly better results obtained 2.7 0.01). However, improved with (68 12 65 8 mm, 0.02). Heart rate rhythm during recorded ECG. SMB induced tachycardia all while pirenzepine did not. Moreover, 3 exhibited faintness, some complained visual accommodation defects, dryness mouth dizziness. no side-effects reported. To conclude, gives good double contrast studies, adverse effects; thus, it could be proposed choice examinations.
