摘要: Abstract Sea turtle populations are declining and evidence-based methods for supporting their required. Captive breeding release programs can be effective, offering the opportunity to supplement nature populations; however, sea turtles require specific conditions successfully breed. Here, we present insights gained from a 12 year Hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata) captive program that was conducted at Underwater Observatory Marine Park, Eilat, Israel, between 1982 1997. As first of its kind turtle, were largely through trial-and-error advice experienced individuals. The key insight during this critical importance pre-breeding separation sexes; did not breed prior being implemented, but it became predictably regular once was. Over course program, 161 two-three old hatchlings introduced Red Sea, which enabled as result implemented.
