摘要: An increasing amount of research has been dedicated to studying various society-environment relations. Although much exists that studies the impact economic development on environmental degradation, there is a paucity sociological literature examines natural environment community-level activities. Using survey data collected from 101 communities in Oregon and Washington, author relationship natu- ral capital pursuit implementation two types development: industrial recruitment self-development. Results suggest are related several components capital. However, affects self-development opposite ways, particularly when implementing these strategies. Moreover, it shows while surroundings affect devel- opment, becomes more important for eco- nomic strategies, net other social demographic factors. These findings illustrate need researchers, policymakers, com- munity activists heavily consider role plays looking at phenomena such as development.
