摘要: Objectives: The objective was to purify and characterise beta-glucosidases from termite Macrotermes bellicosus workers for use in glycobiotechnology elucidate the role played by these enzymes degradation of plant material. Methodology results: Two were purified a three-step procedure consisting ion-exchange, size-exclusion hydrophobic interaction chromatography techniques. Beta-Glc A B had molecular weights estimated at 204 216 kDa, respectively, SDS-PAGE; 209 230 gel filtration. Both exhibited same temperature pH optima pnitrophenyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside hydrolysis stable 37°C. showed high specificity beta-glucosyl residue preferred glucose-beta-(1-4) linkages beta-(1-3), beta-(12) beta-(1-6) linkages. inhibited sulfhydryl-binding reagents.
