摘要: PURPOSE A minimal clinically important difference (MCID) is in evaluating clinical measures such as health-related quality of life (HRQOL) instruments. The purpose this analysis to evaluate MCID for the UCSD Shortness Breath Questionnaire (SOBQ). METHODS We examined disease-specific and generic HRQOL 164 subjects with chronic lung disease before after pulmonary rehabilitation. Subjects completed 2 [SOBQ, Chronic Respiratory (CRQ)], [RAND-36 Quality Well-Being Scale (QWB)]. was calculated using 3 methods: effect size, standard error measurement (SEM), comparison between SOBQ CRQ Dyspnea scores. RESULTS correlated moderately maximum exercise tolerance but not function (FEV1, FVC). capacity improved significantly change 5 units appears be a reasonable instrument. MCIDs (0.47/item) QWB (0.031) were consistent established CONCLUSIONS an SEM approach SOBQ, CRQ, meets expectations these provide information that complementary distinct from physiological measures.
