摘要: Data from the Midcourse Space Experiment (MSX) has provided first observations of thunderstorm-generated gravity waves imaged space. Gravity wave theory predicts that isolated, sufficiently convective thunderstorms can launch and create a unique intensity pattern concentric circles on radiating surface constant altitude above such storm. Among MSX constant-nadir-angle mid-wave infrared (MWIR) observations, two instances patterns have been identified. It was confirmed meteorological satellite images highly isolated occurred at locations times expected.
