ATP synthesis inhibitors as well as respiratory inhibitors increase steady-state level of alternative oxidase mRNA in Arabidopsis thaliana

摘要: Summary The oxygen uptake in mitochondria can be uncoupled from ATP synthesis by the product of a single gene, alternative oxidase ( AOX ) which may involved signal transduction to nucleus. To better understand induction this gene higher plants, we investigated effects cytochrome respiratory inhibitors and on expression s Arabidopsis thaliana . A Northern blot analysis showed AOX1a transcripts were increased treatment antimycin myxothiazol, act complex III chain, NaN 3 , acts IV. mRNA was also strongly induced oligomycin (F 1 F 0 -ATP synthase inhibitor) weakly 2,4-DNP (ATP uncoupler) at maximum dose. These results indicate that not only inhibition electron transfer but induces transcription
