摘要: Abstract A classic series of experiments by Loftus, Miller and Burns (1978) showed that a person's recollection an event can be changed misleading postevent information. Several hypotheses accounting for this effect have been proposed. Loftus' hypothesis destructive updating claims the original memory is destroyed The coexistence asserts older survives but rendered inaccessible through mechanism inhibition or suppression. non-conflict simply accounts claiming subjects only misled if they did not encode forgot event. These three were modelled with help all-or-none probabilistic trees. An experiment was conducted in order to test models assess parameter values. followed Loftus paradigm. We suggested some had seen stopsign, whereas fact traffic light. information resulted poorer reproduction Later, all asked whether could remember color light, even believed stopsign. results who received post-event at least as good recalling light receive no-conflict model well obtained results, although two other, less parsimonious, cannot entirely rejected.
