Brillouin-Scattering Measurements on Silicon and Germanium

摘要: This is a report of the first Brillouin scattering measurements on silicon and germanium. The were made at $\ensuremath{\lambda}=6328 \mathrm{and} 4880$ \AA{} which frequencies optical absorption lies in range ${10}^{4}$ to 6\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{5}$ ${\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$. As result high absorption, light sees only few wavelengths' extent phonon, so from uncertainty principle peaks become very broad. measured linewidths have been analyzed give real imaginary part refractive indices. Good agreement obtained with values reported literature.
