摘要: The number of vultures is declining in many parts the world due to numerous threats, such as poisoning and collisions with power-lines well lack adequate food sources. Vulture restaurants, i.e. supplementary feeding stations, have become a widespread conservation tool aimed at supporting vulture colonies. However, it poorly understood how restaurants influence population dynamics whether they affect breeding success populations. We used 12-year dataset from colony Cape Gyps coprotheres nearby restaurant South Africa investigate effect on success. found significantly positive during nest-building stage pairs. success, proportion successful nests, did not depend incubation rearing stage. Especially critical stage, amount supplied might been sufficient meet demands colony. Still, our results indicate that carefully managed stabilise colonies can therefore aid conservation.
