摘要: Objective: In Tasmania, Australia, lung cancer incidence for 25–44-year-old women has reached that of men despite less smoking by the women. We investigated whether this could be due to greater female-than-male relative risk smoking. Methods: This was a case–control study in 1939–1964 birth cohort. person (n = 100) or proxy, 158 160 cases arising during 1994–1997 were interviewed. Controls representative sample cohort (response 82.8%). Detailed measurements tobacco made questionnaire, and using results 17 machine tests cigarette “tar” yields. Results: The male smokers had accumulated exposure and, reversal previously reported excess female cohort, most (99/160) men. Nevertheless, proportions attributable similar: 0.86 (0.76–0.97) cases, 0.87 (0.74–0.99) cases. Calculated never-smokers, estimated risks similar smokers, particularly with measured cumulative tar yield all cigarettes smoked. Conclusions: found no compelling evidence susceptibility smokers.
