Resistance index, blood flow velocity, and resistance-area product in the cerebral arteries of very low birth weight infants during the first week of life

摘要: Cerebral artery Doppler ultrasound recordings, and intra-arterial pressure measurements have been made from 27 very low birth weight infants during the first week of life. These data were used to calculate Pourcelot's resistance index (RI), mean blood flow velocity, resistance-area product (RAP), in both anterior middle cerebral arteries. There was a good degree correlation between recordings different sites on same occasion, but absolute values site dependent. Over three days life there significant increase velocity each vessels, fall RI RAP.
