摘要: Introduction Total hip (THA) and total knee (TKA) arthroplasties are cost-effective interventions for reducing pain, improving function, enhancing the quality of life in patients with arthritis (1,2). More than 193,000 THA 381,000 TKA procedures performed US each year (3), future projections indicate that by 2030, more 750,000 these will be per (4). Therefore, it is imperative health care professionals to practice evidence-based medicine integrating scientific literature their clinical expertise patients’ preferences select most effective treatment patient recovery after joint replacement (5). In response this need, Association Rheumatology Health Professionals, a division American College Rheumatology, assembled multidisciplinary group experts from Canada conference review current evidence on arthroplasty. The purpose was provide stateof-the-art information surgical procedures, preoperative interventions, biomechanical considerations, rehabilitation strategies, outcomes assessment, disparities related TKA. We present findings conference, which synthesizes available area, identifies gaps knowledge, provides suggestions research.
