摘要: A molecular theory, based on first principles, is introduced for the systematic study of eA'ects intermolecular forces optical properties dielectric fluids. This theory covers a broad range applications, including (polarized and depolarized) Rayleigh Raman scattering, absorption spectra, nonlinear optics. canonical transformation presented by which externally applied coherent fields can be separated from internal radiation fields, thus enabling introduction radiative corrections (such as retardation) to forces. The polarization medium expressed in terms manybody polarizability (or nonlocal susceptibility) operator. latter quantity contains implicitly all so-called local-field effects (modification electromagnetic due neighboring molecules). dipolar contributions, when summed orders, yield familiar Lorentz-Kirkmood factor, involving retarded dipole tensor.
