摘要: Monolayers of aliphatic long chain alcohols (CnH2n+1OH) were found to induce nucleation ice at temperatures approaching O°C in contrast water-soluble which are efficient antifreeze agents. The corresponding fatty acids and with bulky hydrophobic groups, lower by as much 12°C. freezing point induced the amphiphilic was be sensitive not only area per molecule but also length parity, reaching higher for monolayers n odd. Grazing incidence X-ray diffraction studies performed on some these air/water interface (at 5°C zero pressure), demonstrated formation crystalline two-dimensional clusters a distorted hexagonal cell whose dimensions resemble those ice. catalysis alcohol may rationalized terms structural match between monolayer domains ab layer
