摘要: Crop residue use for soil mulch and animal feed are the two major competing purposes basic source of fundamental challenge in conservation agriculture (CA) where retention on farm plots is one three CA principles. Using survey data from Kenya applying bivariate ordered Probit Tobit models, this paper analyzes tradeoffs maize as livestock mixed farming systems. Results show that both proportion quantity used strongly affected by agroecology holding. Farmer knowledge about alternative crop residues farmer perception erosion risk (proxied through plot steepness) positively affect amount farmers retain plots. imply challenged crop-livestock systems particularly smallholder owning cross-bred exotic dairy animals. In general, reducing demand introduction sources, better extension services designing specific strategies interventions could facilitate adoption expansion CA-based practices
