摘要: Abstract Cassia leiandra is an Amazonian plant species that used popularly for the treatment of mycoses. Recently, a protease inhibitor, named ClTI, with insecticidal activity against Aedes aegypti, was purified from mature seeds C. leiandra. In this work, we show ClTI has antifungal Candida and describe its mode action towards albicans. This study relevant because nosocomial infections caused by are global public health problem that, together growing resistance to current drugs, increased urgency search new compounds. inhibited growth albicans, tropicalis, parapsilosis, krusei. However, more potent The candidicidal on albicans involves enhanced cell permeabilization, alteration plasma membrane proton-pumping ATPase function (H+ -ATPase), induction oxidative stress, DNA damage. also exhibited antibiofilm non-cytotoxicity mammalian cells. These results indicate promising candidate future development new, natural, safe agent
