The occurrence of algal blooms in Omani coastal waters

摘要: Monthly sampling of phytoplankton, chlorophyll a, temperature, salinity and nutrients was carried out in the Sea Oman Arabian Sea, from 2004 onwards. In addition to time series data, historical data 1976 2003 were collected Ministry Agriculture Fisheries Wealth reports. Annual averages algal blooms occurrence along coast showed three major components seasonal interannual fluctuations- cycle, fluctuations with approximate period 8 years, rising tendency. The dominant species comprise both diatoms dinoflagellates, obvious dominance Noctiluca scintillans followed by Cochlodinium polykrikoides Prorocentrum sp.
