Seasonal pattern of agonistic and marking behaviour of adult and young pampas deer ( Ozotoceros bezoarticus ) males

摘要: Pampas deer (Ozotoceros bezoarticus) is an endangered species form the southern region of South America. The aim this study was to describe and compare seasonal changes in agonistic marking behaviours adult young male pampas deer. conducted two groups animals: six (4 6 years old) (1.5 years males. Agonistic were weekly recorded during 1 year. Both followed a pattern, closely related androgen concentration annual pattern antler cycle. frequency both types increased before or at beginning rut. In general, age males did not modify greatly behaviours. Adult marked more frequently than males, especially with preorbital gland—a behaviour also used as visual signal for other species—also clear pattern.
