摘要: Polychlorinated biphenyl (PCBs) levels were measured in tissues from harbor porpoises collected during 1971–77 the Bay of Fundy (Canada) and adjacent waters. Levels chlordanes hexachlorobenzene (HCB) smaller numbers same series specimens 1975–77. PCB relatively high all sexually immature both sexes as well adult males, low females. The maximum level blubber was 310 ppm; other tissues, commensurate with their lower fat content, maxima rarely more than 2 ppm. blubber, liver, kidney correlated one another. No discernible changes mean between detected, nor significant regional differences recognized within Fundy, or among obtained Newfoundland Rhode Island. increased significantly age decreased most females; individual variation large. Particularly four-year old males three-year females related to a growth spurt at puberty correspondingly elevated food (and hence PCB) intake per unit time. Chlordanes present 14 ppm blubber. Only small quantities (0.12 0.43 ppm) HCB recorded; only but strongly respective tissues.
