摘要: Abstract West Nile virus (WNV) is a zoonotic mosquito-borne flavivirus that harbored and amplified by wild birds via the enzootic transmission cycle. Wide range of hosts are found to be susceptible WNV infection including mammals, amphibians reptiles across world. Several studies have demonstrated was present in Malaysian Orang Asli captive birds. However, no data available on prevalence Malaysia. Therefore this study conducted determine serological molecular selected areas Coast Peninsular Two types were screened, namely migratory resident order explore any possibility from Thus, cross-sectional at sanctuary located Kuala Gula, Perak Kapar, Selangor catching 163 birds, 97 Gula Parit Buntar, different time between 2016 2017 (Total, n = 260). Blood oropharyngeal swabs collected for analysis, respectively. Serum screened antibodies using commercial competitive ELISA (c-ELISA) (ID Screen® Competition Multi-species ELISA, ID VET, Montpellier, France) cross-reactivity towards Japanese Encephalitis (JEV) also carried out JEV-double antigen sandwich (DAS) ELISA. Oropharyngeal subjected one-step RT-PCR detect RNA, which positive reactions subsequently sequenced. seropositive rate 18.71% (29/155) 95% CI (0.131 0.260) 15.2% (16/105) (0.092 0.239) Phylogenetic analyses 16 isolates revealed local strains 99% similarity South Africa clustered under lineage 2. Evidence study. As summary, intervention mosquitoes might cause introduction maintenance Malaysia, however assumption could further proven studying dynamics studied areas.
