Was that capitalism? A future-oriented big data analysis of the English language area in the 19th and 20th century

摘要: Abstract As foresight and futures studies depend on the pertinence of our knowledge present past, this article tests whether English language area may be adequately described as secularised capitalist between 1800 2000. We are using Google Ngram Viewer to chart interpret time series plots combined frequencies pertinent keywords in largest Internet book corpus, Books corpus. The results suggest that is a secularised, politicised, scientificised, ultimately also mediatised which has never been dominated by economy. conclude sample period not characterised if we associate capitalism with any form over-average importance or even dominance economy popular social macro trend statements regularly turned from implicit assumptions into explicit research questions so reduce risk inadequate projected future.
