摘要: Adolescent gambling is a major social problem in North America. Over the years this has given rise to number of theoretical explanations. This paper argues that existing explanations youth underestimate influence broader structural forces conducive and, instead, provide micro analyses often blames individuals for their problems. As such, these theories produce incomplete pictures persistent, cohesive and growing problem. Canadian youth’s said be better understood within nexus of: (1) state’s pro-gambling policies due need revenues, (2) discrepancy between widely shared cultural values-wealth, power, success-and legitimate means achieving them, (3) capitalist processes profit making commodification.
