摘要: The desaturation and elongation of [1-14C]18:3n-3 was investigated in hepatocytes the tropical warm freshwater species, zebrafish (Danio rerio) Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). hepatocyte fatty acid desaturation/elongation pathway assayed before after fish were fed two experimental diets, a control diet containing oil (FO) vegetable (VO; blend olive, linseed high oleic sunflower oils) for 10 weeks. VO formulated to provide 1% each 18:2n-6 18:3n-3, so satisfy possible EFA requirements tilapia. At end dietary trial, lipid composition determined whole zebrafish, liver, white muscle brain Both expressed pattern consistent with them being planktonivorous fish. data also showed that hepatic nutritionally regulated activities higher compared FO diet. In main effect increased Δ6 desaturase activity resulting production significantly more 18:4n-3 tilapia, all greater amounts acids pathway, but primarily eicosapentaenoic (EPA; 20:5n-3) docosahexaenoic (DHA; 22:6n-3). However, compositional indicated despite activity, 18:3n-3 insufficient maintain tissue proportions EPA DHA at same level as Practically, these results indicate manipulation diets commercial culture response declining global market would have important consequences health consumers. Scientifically, both subject active genome mapping projects, could be useful models studies metabolism molecular biological genetic level.
