摘要: The frequency with which individual male purple martins (Hirundinidae: Progne subis) guard their mates during forays to gather nest material varies from 0 100%. During such forays, guarding males accompany continuously the time a female leaves site until she returns material. Non-guarding do not females on these collecting forays. Unguarded are subject forced extrapair copulation attempts almost all of collect Because this suggested that non-guarding may have lowered assurance paternity relative males, I asked if mate is directly related parental care. However, effort, as assessed by feeding rates, was intensity. Mate intensity vary widely among since defense preclude in some and superiority sperm competition means other than exclusive access reduce chances being cuckolded.
