摘要: AbstractComposite profiles of the apparent heat source Q1 and moisture sink Q2 are calculated for International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP) cloud regimes (or “weather states”) using sounding observations from 10 field campaigns comprising both tropical subtropical domains. Distinct heating were determined each ISCCP regime, ranging strong, upper-tropospheric mesoscale convective systems (WS1) to integrated cooling populations typically associated with marine stratus stratocumulus clouds (WS5, WS6, WS7). Despite being primarily thin cirrus, corresponding regime (WS4) has maxima in lower midtroposphere due presence underlying clouds.
