摘要: This research shows that cognitive consistency applies to environmental attitudes and behavior. Most individuals who were observed engage in a proenvironmental behavior (purchasing lead-free gasoline) had two consistent cognitions—a belief their was economically expedient feeling of personal obligation. Those held both beliefs behaved consistently reported greater social support more supporting than those manifested inconsistency. They also showed behavioral commitment purchasing lead-free. These data suggest cognitions are organized as opinion molecules is with attitudes. attitude-behavior likely be when choice unconstrained, it the collected 1973, before government regulations limited consumer choices.
