摘要: A field experiment was performed in a New Mexico (U.S.A.) stream to investigate the relation between size and diversity of substrate numbers colonizing insects. Baskets with either small gravel, large or 1 : mixture two sizes were placed riffle area colonization monitored for 19 days. Colonization rapid, both total number individuals species substrates had stopped increasing by end experiment. Fewer colonized baskets downstream, suggesting that drift is major source insect colonists. Small supported more than larger stones. Total on mixed substrate. These results do not support previous generalizations complexity structure invertebrate communities streams. Results study are compared findings recent experimental studies it suggested earlier role need be reexamined.
