摘要: During a 2 day period in mid-September 2006, more than 200, unconfirmed but identifiable, sei whale (Balaenoptera borealis) calls were collected as incidental data during multidisciplinary oceanography and acoustics experiment on the shelf off New Jersey. Using combined vertical horizontal acoustic receiving array, movements tracked over long distances (up to tens of kilometers) using normal mode back propagation technique. This approach uses low-frequency, broadband passive call receptions from single-station, two-dimensional hydrophone array perform distance localization tracking by exploiting dispersive nature propagating modes shallow water environment. The is examined for accuracy application vocalizations identified signals. tracking, with intensive measurements performed experiment, was also used examine relation oceanographic features observed this region.
