Performance improvement and development of correlation for friction factor and heat transfer using computational fluid dynamics for ribbed triangular duct solar air heater

摘要: Abstract Solar air heater (SAH) is a device used to convert sun radiations into heating applications. To improve its performance, the heat absorbing side of SAH modified with ribs called roughness. The flow characteristics and augmentation due square shaped in having triangular cross-sectional passage has been simulated using computational fluid dynamic (CFD) technique. CFD simulations consisted design modeling SAH. Two different roughness parameters considered analysis i.e. relative pitch (P/e) height (e/D) their value ranges from 5 13 (in four sets) 0.013 0.05 sets), respectively for Reynolds number varies 3900 17900. Better seen by providing on absorber plate. highest improvement transfer order 97% P/e 10 e/D 0.05 at Re thermohydraulic performance parameter (TPP) also calculated have 1.97 Correlation developed both friction factor Nusselt based observed results.
