Simulation of the Behavior of a Ship Hull under Grounding: Effect of Applied Element Size on Structural Crashworthiness

摘要: This work models the effect of an impact phenomenon—namely interaction between seabed rock and a ship during its operations—on structure. The collision tanker vessel with conical is simulated, scenario that similar to famous grounding Exxon Valdez oil tanker. study uses finite element analysis simulate numerical parameters are related structural response contours hull under loading. traditional element-length-to-thickness (ELT) ratio 10 recommended in this work. ELT ratios range 11 13 shown produce results terms internal energy, contact force, acceleration. Additionally, time reduced by approximately 20% for ratio. result very helpful researchers using accidents, since mesh size or length complex structures used maintain efficiency accuracy simulation results.
