摘要: The Platreef of the Bushveld Complex is currently largest PGE open pit deposit. In order to investigate behavior during weathering, three boreholes covering a sequence oxidized and pristine ore from Mogalakwena mine were studied. Further, sulfides platinum-group minerals (PGM) at various locations along strike Platreef, Townlands, Tweefontein Nonnenwerth compared those (Overysel, Sandsloot). ore, generally occur as PGM, or in solid solution within sulfides. PGM are usually associated with sulfide mainly comprise (Pt,Pd)-bismuthotellurides, cooperite-braggite, sperrylite. Electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) indicate concentrations Pd pentlandite (up 185 ppm), whereas pyrrhotite contains up 15 ppm Os, Ir, Ru, chalcopyrite devoid PGE. Two compositionally different groups pyrite differing Ni, Co, Pt contents identified. Sulfur isotope data degrees assimilation country rocks. Near-surface, ores have large economic potential. However, attempts extract proven unfeasible due low recoveries (< 30%) achieved by conventional metallurgical methods. ores, rare relict present. EPMA LA-ICP-MS measurements demonstrated that secondary iron oxides/hydroxides silicates contain erratically distributed Rh, Pt, several 100 ppm). polymodal distribution weathered explains recovery rates flotation processing.
