IMPROVED METHOD OF GROUPING PROVINCEWIDE PERMANENT TRAFFIC COUNTERS

摘要: An improved method of grouping provincewide permanent traffic counters on the basis their seasonal variation in flows is proposed. The uses two standard procedures: (a) hierarchical grouping, which one a variety clustering techniques, and (b) Scheffe's S-method multiple group comparisons. proposed has several advantages over existing methods, are largely subjective manual nature. new simple, objective, computer-oriented, statistically credible. In addition, application to Alberta's traffic-counter data indicates that rational for such considerations as trip purpose trip-length distribution.
