摘要: Studies on first responders who are repeatedly exposed to traumatic events report low levels of PTSD symptoms and diagnosis. However, neuroimaging behavioral studies show that exposure is associated with brain cognitive dysfunctions. Taking together it may suggest have a price, which not sufficiently defined by the standard measures. In recent study we revealed similar individuals PTSD, non-PTSD highly firefighters display selective impairment in hippocampal related functions. current aimed test whether different impairment. We concentrated unique populations active duty criminal scene-investigators (CSI) police, frequently types events, compared them civilian matched-controls no history trauma-exposure. used dependent cue-context reversal paradigm, separately evaluates negative positive outcomes cue context information. predicted found all participants were equally able acquire retain stimulus-outcome associations. there significant differences learning between groups. Performance among replicated our prior findings; they struggled learn previously later outcome. CSI police other hand showed reversing outcome cue. Hence after specific outcome, could both groups did correlate anxiety, depression or inhibition symptoms. The results provide further evidence hidden price exposure, suggesting this differ as function occupation.
