Improved gas sensor with air-core photonic bandgap fiber

摘要: The propagation loss of a fiber can be increased by coupling core mode and surface which will deteriorate the performance photonic bandgap (PBGF). In this paper, we presented an aircore PBGF for gas sensing applications. By designing Λ = 2.63 µm, d 0.95 Λ, Rcore= 1.13 where is distance between adjacent air holes, was single-mode, no supported with fiber, more than 90% optical power confined in core. Furthermore, optimizing structural parameters, at wavelength λ 1.55 µm that acetylene absorption line, significant relative sensitivity 92.5%, acceptable confinement 0.09 dB/m, were simultaneously achieved.
